- I have a big test tomorrow; I can't go out tonight.
- Discuss the use of semicolons in lists with internal commas.

- She had only one goal: to win the championship.
- **Parentheses:**
- Explain the use of parentheses: to include additional information without interrupting the main sentence flow.

- The project (due on Friday) requires a lot of research.
**2. Complex Sentences (15 minutes)**

- Example of an independent clause: I finished my homework.
- Example of a dependent clause: Because I finished my homework.
- **Forming Complex Sentences:**
- Explain and demonstrate how to combine independent and dependent clauses.
- Use conjunctions such as because, although, since, when, etc.
- Provide examples:
- Although it was raining, we went for a walk.
- I stayed up late because I was watching a movie.
